Lowes: "You put work in and hopefully it gives back in the races"
British rider ends day one in second position around Qatar
Continuing his strong pace so far in 2017, Alex Lowes (Pata Yamaha Official WorldSBK Team) was able to put in a stunning lap time at the end of the second free practise of the day at Losail International Circuit, ending the day in second position and 0.259s off the top.
Despite a crash in the opening session of the day which lost him a lot of track time in Qatar, he came back out in free practise two and was able to put in a lot of hard work to be fighting at the front of the pack. Making his way up into second position in the final minutes of the session, Lowes it thrilled with his pace after a busy evening under the floodlights.
At a track he enjoys to ride around, he looks forward to a busy Friday in Qatar: “Before the weekend I was really looking forward to it and it’s a track I enjoy. I feel like I am riding well but I made a mistake right at the start which meant we lost some track time and some key time to develop the R1, but this afternoon we felt quite good and because we missed that time we have got a good chance to work on the bike and I hope to fight at the front of pack after a fun year. FP2 was a very busy session and you put a bit of work in and you get it back in the races.”
